Blue Baseballs

This is a little baby sweater I made a couple of years ago. We are still waiting for someone to have a boy!!! We just calculated that Great Grandma has 15 great grandchildren now that little Breanna has arrived and Aidan is the only boy !!! Even the girls at work are all having girls right now.

It's a simple v necked cardigan. It was knitted from a royal blue DK that I had with some scraps of white. It is really simple. I used white moss stitch for the edging, royal blue stocking stitch for the body and white garter stitch stripes.

The name is because the buttons look like flattened black baseballs!!!

Baby Surprise Jacket

I managed to find a copy of the Opinionated Knitter at my LYS recently and have now completed my first Baby Surprise jacket.

I forgot to take a pic before sewing it up. These show the front and back. I made it with scraps from my stash so it is very stripey!. It's actually red, green and white. I think that's the Italian flag if I remember rightly. Please note, that very dark colour is a dark green not black. I didn't sew the seam very evenly so I think the neck is a little small. The buttons are made from real shells. The insides are the perfect pale green. Eau de nil was the colour on the bobbin of thread which I used.

DH says that it isn't at all babyish. I think it would suit a modern Mom who doesn't want everything pastel, very well.

Now I've done one, I want to try another one in a variegated yarn . I may even try to make one with two colours. We'll see.

Scarves

I have knitted a number of scarves this year. All are intended for Family Christmas presents.

I found a book of knitting stitches and used faggot stitch for the ladies' scarves. (K1, yo ssk repeated on each row) which gives an open stitch . You need an even number of stitches for this to work.

The men's are in mistake rib. Every row is the same which makes for easy patterning and you get a somewhat thicker fabric . It is K2 P2 on a a multiple of 4 stitches +3 more

Kimono Baby Sweater

This is a kimono sweater knitted from a pattern in Louisa Harding's Natural Knits for Babies and Moms. It was an easy pattern to follow. I love the fact that the jacket can be fastened with ties or buttons. I chose ties for the inside and these cute bunny buttons for the outside. Only the two on the extreme outside edge actually fasten. The one in the middle was an extra from the card so I decided to sew it on the jacket edging. It looks rather decorative and could also serve as a spare if one of the others gets lost.

This is where I plan to share my knitting adventures. I have been knitting for many years and have completed many projects. Unfortunately, I have never thought to keep a record of my accomplishments before. This is about to change!!!
