This was based on a pattern in "Double Knit" by Zoe Mellor.
I changed it a little. Her pattern is entirely moss stitch in one colour with button and buttonhole bands knitted separately and then sewn on.
I chose to use two colours. The edging are all in garter stitch not moss stitch. The button and buttonhole bands were picked up from the front pieces and then knitted up from there. The collar was formed in the same way. I really liked the increasing stitches at the end of the row which form the points on the collar.
I am not sure about having the jacket button all the way up and I remain unconvinced about set in sleeves. I thin for a young baby a V neck with raglan sleeves is better.
However I do rather like the look of this now it is done. It is for a colleague at work who is about to go on maternity leave. I hope she likes it!!
