Purple Haze Scarf

Here is a scarf to go with the new hat and mittens
Little to write about
A very easy pattern no problems just knitting until it was long enough

I added 4 rows of garter stitch at both ends and 2 knit stitches at both ends of each row to stop curling
It's made a firm fabric so I could have used a larger needle but it is fine as it is

Ozzy White Scarf

Well this is the very last of the stash yarn.
I started this and then put it to one side as I realized I would need some of the yarn to make the cuffs of the Sea Spray mittens
The yarn is beautifully soft and very easy to knit with
A super easy pattern
Very easily memorized

A lovely final product
All soft and not a bit itchy around my neck
Not sure how durable this will be as it is very fine yarn and there are lots of holes to get caught on things
Still I love it and will keep it for special occasions

Whilst I have knitted up all the yarn in my cupboards, I am probably still going to knit but I am going back to the way it was when I first started.
I would buy a pattern and then buy the yarn I needed rather than trying to find a pattern which matches some yarn I just saw

RKB's Winter Things

When R & K came to visit a couple of weeks ago, they each asked for a winter scarf as they didn't think they had any.
We looked through my stash and R chose this blue and white variegated yarn

Here's R's Scarf

We had used my snowflake scarf to see how long it needed to be and R liked the pattern so I made one for her. It curls just like mine but that seems to keep me as warm as a rib scarf

Size: 44'' long 35 sts wide

Yarn: Patons Canadiana
Colour: Light Pastels

Here's K's Scarf

K wanted an orange scarf and I had no orange yarn in my stash. It was easy to find a single ball at Len's Mill. It is a very bright neon so no one will miss seeing him
I decided a rib would be more masculine and used my mistake rib stitch pattern

Size: 44'' long 43 sts wide
Pattern: Mistake Rib
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft
Colour: Neon Orange

Here's B's Hat

It didn't seem right not to make something for B even though she is too little for a scarf.
So I found a hat pattern and some stash yarn for her

2013#10 Twisted Cowl

This was made by using up odds and ends of yarn.  There was worsted weight in 3 colours.  The outside bands knitted with 5 mm  needles and the inner bands with 4.5 mm needles.
I put a twist in to see how it came out.

It makes a nice warm cowl but needs a pin to hold it.

The colours work surprisingly well together.

Size: 10" deep and 28" around
Pattern: my own
Yarn: 3 different worsted weights
Colour: orange, brown and pink

2013#8 Purple Boa Scarf

We had a grand clean out of the storage room at NGH. That seemed to mean that lots of oddments came home with me. among them 3 balls of Bernat Boa.  This is not so fashionable as it was but there really was little else to do with the yarn except knit a scarf.  It ended up at 6'' by 60''.  A pretty decent length that will wrap around a couple of times.  The yarn is 100% polyester and not nice to knit.  It was very difficult to see the stitch pattern but as it was simple stocking stitch it didn't really matter. The yarn was a pretty purple-red but I don't like the feel of the fabric.  Hope it appeals to someone at the sale.

Scarves

I have knitted a number of scarves this year. All are intended for Family Christmas presents.

I found a book of knitting stitches and used faggot stitch for the ladies' scarves. (K1, yo ssk repeated on each row) which gives an open stitch . You need an even number of stitches for this to work.

The men's are in mistake rib. Every row is the same which makes for easy patterning and you get a somewhat thicker fabric . It is K2 P2 on a a multiple of 4 stitches +3 more
