Fingerless Mitts

The Craft Kits for Hats all sold so I am now trying out some fingerless mitt ideas.

These are the first attempt

Pretty good if I do  so say myself!

I used 54 g of worsted yarn which is less than the hats
We have lots of 4.5 mm needles so I chose to use those
The pattern is written for 2 straight needles as these are supposed to be beginner patterns

Doll Blanket

I was sure that I already wrote this up.  I have no idea where the post went but maybe I just put it up on Ravelry

Made this  using left over scraps from the two baby blankets I made for MRR. She loves to wrap her dolls up and sing them to sleep so this will be part of her Christmas present.
I picked up around the edge once I was out of the different coloured scraps and then added extra rows in pink to make it rectangular so that it would fit her doll crib

Burgundy and Pink Stripey Sweater

Another small stripey baby sweater trying to use up the odd balls of yarn from the Craft Group stash.

I didn't quite guess the yardage right so the sleeves are dark red not burgundy but they look fine

Red and Blue Stripey Sweater

I am trying to use up the odd balls of yarn from the Craft Group stash.

Small stripey baby sweaters seem to be the easiest way to go

I have used this pattern before and it is very straightforward.
The top down construction means that there are no seams to sew up at the end which is a bonus

Hats, Hats, Hats!

We have a lot of yarn and needles in our Craft Group Store Room. I thought we could put some of the single odd balls and turn them into Craft Kits.
I needed to draft a pattern. Hats are fairly easy and quick so I have made several to test my pattern

The two draft versions which will go to NGH for sale as well as showing what the Craft Kits should look like

The two smaller versions which used up most of the Tranquil yarn.  Theses will go to the littlest ones for winter

King's Tranquil Cardi

A nice simple but stylish cardi.
A reasonably quick knit.

Used the yarn left from the Baby Belle Cardi which I made for his sister.

Still have enough for 2 hats. One for each of them

Pink Elephants

I put this to one side so I could make the purple striped cardi for MRR.

Photo will have to wait until I get my desk top sorted out.

I improvised this using  King's Green Stripes as a guide.
The elephants were added from a single motif modified to make the border

Raspberry's Purple Stripes

As I suspected the little pink sweater was too small.  Too narrow by a long way

I bought some purple yarn as that is Little Miss' favourite colour right now and started again

I followed the 8 year size as I calculated with the yarn and needles I was using that would result in a 24 inch sweater
I adjusted sleeve length and sweater length too

4 buttons so that if the sweater is a little long then it won't restrict her legs

Sleeve seam 8 inch
underarm seam 8 1/2 inch
Added decreases every 6 rows for sleeves
8 rows rib for sleeves and sweater
5 rows rib for front bands

Pink Diamonds Sweater

This is for the new market stall

There were multiple errors in the pattern but nothing too serious.  I learned to read each section through before knitting!

Mods:
used larger needles to match the yarn so it came out bigger than the pattern
Actually it is 24 inch around so I made it as long as the pattern said for the largest size

Sleeves on dpns picked up 2 extra sts at underarm
decreased from 54 to 36 2 on every 4th row

Seed stitch at cuffs not rib
8 rows of Seed stitch at bottom

The travelling stitches and the heart stand out against the reverse stocking stitch.
Difficult to get the sleeves without ladders

Actually I like the structure of this pattern and may use it as the basis of another cardi  in stocking stitch

King's Green Stripes

Unlike the pink sweater, this one is on size but it has an 18/24 month old size as 24 inches .
I am fairly sure it will be too big for Master R  but it should fit Miss R. Although it may be short on her!!
It is made entirely from stash which makes it free!!

Easy pattern no problems at all

Yikes Pink Stripes

Found this pattern on Ravelry
I loved the look of it

I was disappointed in the sizing.  It was long and thin which should have fitted Miss R just fine but after 3 attempts I finally made the 4 year old size using larger needles.  This turned out to be just 21 inches around.  I am not hopeful that it will fit.

I still love the look and will try again with thicker yarn and an even larger size.

Edited to add:
It didn't fit a very slim 2 year old! So it is in the donation pile.  I'll try again with thicker yarn and larger needles.  I think there is going to be some math in my future!!

Seaside Market Bag

Made for the June Craft group meeting.

We are going to have a table at the Farmers' Market this summer,
So we need some holiday /summery things.
This bag is made from cotton yarn  It could be a beach bag, a swim bag, or a shopping bag and will scrunch up for storage without a problem

Forgot to take a picture.

Easy pattern.  Din't like all the yarn overs

Baby Blake

Another English great nephew is due in March So I got busy and knitted a little hoodie and a hat.

The Hoodie turned out to be a little big but that's OK as babies grow!!

The original pattern has three different coloured stripes and is entirely in stocking stitch.  I decided to just use the solid blue for emphasis and so I used 2 rows of garter stitch after each block of 12 stocking stitch rows.
I really like the way this turned out.  The pattern is easy to follow and the solid blue really makes it pop out of the variegated yarn.

Size: 3 - 6 months
Pattern: Bobby by Martin Storey
Yarn: Bernat Softee Baby
Colour: Blue Flannel
Yarn: Tent Sale KW
Colour: Blue

I saw this pattern for a hat ages ago and wanted to try it.  It is knit on dpns and that was little tricky at times with the cables.
This was a lovely pattern and easy to follow. The decreases are all hidden in the cable panels.  The cables themselves decrease in size and length as the hat grows.  Very neat!!

I made and icord loop instead of a pom pom for the top .  I followed the pattern and made strings to tie it with   I am not sure about the safety issues with those.  They can be cut off if L is concerned.

I wish I had used some of the solid blue so that the colour didn't quite so washed out.  There is plenty of yarn left for me to try another one in that colourway.
