Purple Anne's Cardigan

This yarn has been sitting for almost 4 years waiting for me to make this sweater.  I made one for KJMR in a pink colour way and loved it. I used to have a cardi in a similar colour and loved that one so finally I have a replacement

Notes: I had to go up a needle to get gauge and that made for a looser fabric
Next time I have this problem I think I'll try going up a sweater size not a needle size
The arms are fuller than they need to be I think I could easily modify the increases to make the sleeves narrower
I used a 3 needle bind off at the shoulders which was perfect for matching patterns and a neat finish

Mods this time
I decided to use full lace panels on the fronts  and 3 lace panels for the back.  I lined these up with the front panels

Overall I am happy with it

Tan Newfie Mitts

I have seen these mitts around and have wanted to make a pair for a long time.
Finally found a pattern and knitted a pair.

Very easy to make I may well make some more

Also known as Waffle mitts

I have no picture and they are already on their way to the UK for Christmas

Navy Twisted Grapes Cardi

I bought the yarn for this quite some time ago.

I was intending to make a different cardigan but after reading the original pattern carefully, I decided that I really didn't like it at all.  I found this pattern on line and it proved to be reasonably straightforward until the sleeves.

I couldn’t figure out the short row sleeve instructions so I switched to traditional seamed sleeves. Thank goodness that was an option!
More confusion at the end of the traditional instructions. My sleeve was going to measure way more than 6” from the first cast off row but then the armhole was way more than that too.  I took a deep breath and knitted as instructed.  As it turned out the sleeve fitted the armhole nicely.

Loved the top down construction starting with the back and then picking up the shoulders for the individual fronts

Pink and Purple Cardi

A pretty little cardi for Miss R.

Used a pattern which I bought when ADHR was about the same age so it is an oldie but goodie!!

Love this pattern!!
Modified to use two colours not one.
The dark purple is Italian Plum the body is a variegated pink and purple called Princess Purple.  Just right for a little girl who is obsessed with princesses!

Modified the pattern panel on the body to add an extra row of holes
Modified the pattern panel on the sleeves so that it was only one row of holes
Made the 4 year old size but a little shorter in the arms

Antler Hats

OOPs missed posting these

Needed a portable project for a week away
Took the blue and purple  yarns to make winter hats to match the cardis
Pretty much followed the pattern

Made a 3 inch rib K1P1 for blue and K2 P2 for purple
6 pattern repeats before decreasing
Fits my head without a turn up. Should fit theirs with a nice deep turn up over the ears

Blue Sock Yarn Cardi

Third winter Cardi for KDR

This was a very easy pattern and knitted up very quickly. I knew I might be a little short on yarn so I made several modifications. to the pattern

Rib: all K2P2
Body:
Followed 162 sts size but did not cast on 162 sts as that was way too big
140 for rib and then decreased to 126 immediately omitting decreases in body
Added a reverse stocking stitch band for interest
Adjusted length to 9inches from rib to armhole
Sleeves: as pattern
Yoke:
Ran low on yarn so mixed in the Cherub DK which was a perfect colour match.
Added some extra decrease rows at top of sleeves and across back
Neck:
Picked up 84 stitches and decreased to 68
Band is done entirely in DK (held double)

Blue Professor Sweater

A second lighter weight sweater for KDR
I loved the look of the pattern which had stripes around the bottom of the body and sleeves but when I got started I realised that there was going to be plenty of yarn left over so I opted not to stripe but to add fancy buttons

Avery easy pattern and very quick to knit up I can't quite believe I have already finished it!!

The size is still a little skinny No real mods just added an extra garter ridge to button band

Purple Aran Cardi

Another of the getting ready for winter projects.

It's in purple which is still MRR's favourite colour

A very similar pattern to KDR's sweater.
Super easy no problems
I made the button up version to keep out the cold on the walk to daycare
It looks big but then she is growing!!

Blue Son's Cardi

This is getting ready for the winter.  I seem to have a limit on how much knitting I can do in a day before my wrists and shoulders ache so I have to get started now!!

I have always loved aran style sweaters so here is one for KDR. It looks huge but then he is not a little boy!
I made a v neck as he still doesn't really have a neck to speak of.

The colour in the photo is way off. It is a lovely pale blue
A simple enough pattern apart from the pockets. I have no idea what was intended but I tried and failed to make any sense of that part of the pattern. I reverted to my traditional method which worked fine.

Red Drift Cardi

I missed writing about this
It was finished in May and should have been blogged then.
Anyway here we are now

I started this in Florida and then put it aside to work on hospital projects.  I loved the pattern and found it easy to knit

I was disappointed in how narrow the sleeves are.  My gauge is spot on so they must have been designed that way. Thank goodness I didn't add a cable which I had considered doing!
Love this cardi and the buttons I found at Hobby Lobby in Bradenton

More NGH Crafts

We had a successful workshop day
One member brought in some knitted bears she had made

After she shared the pattern I found a similar one on line Teddies for Tragedies

The larger one is knitted in worsted yarn on 4.5mm needles
The smaller one is the exact same stitch and row count but I used Astra and 3.25 mm needles

Baby Duck Cardi

Another little project for NGH.

I saw this pattern online and thought it would be great for KDR but Mommy didn't seem too keen. I still wanted to try the pattern so I used NGH yarn

I am quite pleased with the finished cardi but I am not happy with the colourwork. I found it hard to keep the stitches even. This is probably the last of this style that I will make. I'd rather do cables and stitch patterns.
It was an easy pattern. No armhole shaping . I may use it as a basic cardi.  The downside is being knitted in pieces. I think I could knit the body up to the armholes all in one and then divide. I might even try picking up the sleeves and doing them on dpns.

Baby Green Cardi

I bought 6 skeins of this yarn at a Lens Mill Tent Sale. It must have been in 2013 or early 2014 as I bought it intending to make some baby things for Baby R #2.  That didn't happen but he did get lots of other knitted things from his Granny.

It is really a very soft green and doesn't seem to say KDR to me.   So this is going to be made into things for MRR.

I started this sweater in September thinking that it would be good for this winter but Mom said she did not need any more sweaters for this year.
So I put it on one side and then made the 4 year old size so it is all ready for next year
