Purple Haze Mittens

I needed something to keep my hands busy in the evenings and MRR has needed and kept 2 pairs of my mitts
So some slightly dressy but not fancy ones were needed
A fine yarn seemed like a good idea so sock yarn would be a good choice and I wanted a fairly dense fabric
All of which led me to this pattern
I love the colours in this yarn and they will go nicely with all my winter coats

Ozzy Blue Sea Spray Mittens

I love this pattern.  It was very easy to follow

Now I have a matching hat and mitten set

As I did not have a complete ball of blue yarn left after knitting a long cuff on the hat, I had to use some of the 3 ply white wool which I had designated for a lacy scarf.

The yarns are very soft and warm.

The lacy design means that these will be worn on car trips or inside thicker mittens

I made the mitten cuff longer so that it will tuck inside a jacket

I had to add several stitches to the thumb after pick up so that it would go around my fat thumb

When everything is done, I'll have a scarf to go with the hat and mittens too

Note:  Colour in this picture is right.  The hat picture is too pale

2018 Charity Knits

Next week is delivery day for Charity donations through the Quilt Guild

I have made a variety of sizes of mitts and hats.   All were made from my stash so some are striped and they are in various weights of yarn

I feel better about sending these to the guild as I know that they will be distributed immediately rather than sitting in a box hoping for someone to pull them out for sale before they are old and out of style

I have 6 pairs of hand knit socks which I have never worn.   I decided that as I am unlikely to ever wear them, they can go into the bag as well.
