We had some young visitors last month. We hadn't seen them in such a long time due to all the Covid19 restrictions and had a great time
Just before we were getting ready to leave to take them home, R asked if I would knit her a sweater. Of course I said yes and we discussed what colour and style she would like and then we measured her
As we were doing this K asked if he could have one too. So we talked about colour, style and measurements for him too
He was really very serious about this and said "You know Gran maybe you should make them a little bigger than our measurements because we will have grown by the time it is cold enough to wear them!!"
I was so impressed by his thought pattern
What a great little guy!!
So here is his red sweater a little bigger than he is right now but hopefully big enough to last for the winter
I used the pattern as a base but had to make several modifications as the chest measurement was huge. I added rib panels to both fronts and sleeves and 2 rib panels to the back.
Arm lengths had to be adjusted as well as he has much longer arms than the pattern
I put a zipper up the front as that seemed more boy like than buttons
It went in fairly easily. First sewn by hand and then machined in for extra strength
Now I guess I have to start on R's sweater so that they each have one
